Brief Description of Instrument – Patients of maternity nurse practitioners asked two questions: 1) How did the nurse practitioner help you? 2) How did she differ from physicians you have seen in the past? Scale Format – Two open-ended questions. Administration Technique – Interview. Scoring and Interpretation – Open-ended questions were analyzed by organizing into categories and counting frequencies. Factors and Norms – See original citation for description of categories. Limitations – These questions may assume a high level of satisfaction with NP care, ie. that the clients did indeed find the NP helpful. Notes for Consideration – The two questions seek to describe the quality of the encounter between client and NP, rather than specifically measuring satisfaction with NP care.
